Para Los Niños’ Board of Directors is made up of a diverse group of individuals from several industries and varying backgrounds, who provide oversight and accountability to the PLN executive team to ensure that the agency is a responsible steward to the public funding it receives and that it is fulfilling its promise to the community it serves. ​These incredible professionals believe in and are active advocates and ambassadors for the values, mission, and vision of Para Los Niños.  

We are proud to announce the following updates to our Board of Directors. 

Marjorie Lewis steps down as Board Chair but will remain on the Board of Directors  

Marjorie served on PLN’s Board since 2013 and has served as chair since 2015. During that time, PLN has grown tremendously. In 2013, PLN had a $23 million budget, a staff of 345, and served nearly 5,000 community members annually. Today, PLN has a $56 million budget, 415 staff members, and partners with more than 10,000 children, youth and their families annually. 

Since 2013, we’ve celebrated: The Grand opening of PLN Middle School; the expansion of our family service programs, including Partnerships for Families, Domestic Violence Support Services, and United Mental Health Promoters; and, we’ve developed a robust volunteer and in-kind program that has helped us vastly expand our ability to meet the material needs of families.  

Under her fearless leadership, we have also navigated many eras of unprecedented change, including the paradigm-shifting COVID-19 pandemic, the devastating consequences of immigration enforcement, and the tremendous economic challenges our families now face.  

We are so appreciative of Marjorie’s leadership over the past decade and are so grateful that she will remain on the board to continue providing her invaluable counsel in service of PLN’s children, youth and families.  

Sandra Aispuro steps up as Chair of Para Los Niños’ Board of Directors  

“PLN started on Skid Row in 1980 for children whose parents were working in the garment district not far from our sites. That was a bullseye for me, because my mom worked in Downtown LA. My mom was a costurera going to many of those buildings, getting paid by la pieza. PLN serves families like mine. I just picture myself and my sisters in them. They could be us, and we could be them.”  – Sandra Aispuro

Sandra Aispuro came to Para Los Niños with over 25 years of experience in the financial community banking industry and a passion for volunteering for organizations that support underserved communities. She currently serves as Vice President Retail Operations Manager at City First Broadway in Los Angeles. Prior to this role, Ms. Aispuro has held various roles at Broadway Federal Bank, OneWest Bank, and First Federal Bank. 

Ms. Aispuro served Para Los Niños as a member of our Student and Community Services Workgroup, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Board Governance committees. She has also served as a Credit Building and Homeownership committee member for the FDICs Alliance for Economic Inclusion (AEI), has supported low-income families with tax preparation for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA), and provided guidance for residents to become U.S. Citizens through the NALEO Educational Fund. 

Ms. Aispuro’s drive to be involved in the community comes from being born and raised in a low-income minority neighborhood by a single mother. Her family benefited from similar social and community programs and knows first-hand how impactful and necessary these programs are for the community. In spite of all the challenges, Ms. Aispuro has been able to build a successful banking career over the last 25 years.
