Welcome to Para Los Niños Community Charter Middle School!

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

Welcome back to another exciting school year at Para Los Niños Charter Middle School! We hope you had a wonderful and restful summer break filled with laughter, adventures, and quality time with loved ones. We are excited to welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year as we continue to RISE toward academic excellence, empowered lifelong learners, productive citizens, and future leaders. As we venture into a new school year, we want to take a moment to extend our warmest greetings and share our enthusiasm for the upcoming school year.

Our dedicated faculty and staff have worked hard over the summer, planning, preparing, and creating an enriching and supportive learning environment that encourages growth, curiosity, and achievement for ALL students to thrive. We will ensure the safety of our students and focus on a holistic approach to equity education by fostering connections, nurturing positive relationships, building character, and instilling a love for lifelong learning that lasts a lifetime. We encourage our parents to continue supporting our students and staff and are thrilled to have each and every one of you be a part of our vibrant and diverse family at Para Los Niños Charter Middle School.

This school year, we will continue to expand on important initiatives centered on equity education, such as family engagement, attendance, culture, academics, and social-emotional learning. Together, we will cultivate inclusive and restorative learning communities with equity at the core of our action-driven vision and mission. We will ensure our scholars have access to a rigorous and robust curriculum that enhances and accelerates teaching and learning. Lastly, we will embark on a journey centered on students, families, community engagement, and services in a way that cultivates highly regarded community schools and will enhance opportunities for ALL our students.

As we begin the school year, we want to remind parents and guardians about the importance of completing and returning the necessary school forms. These forms play a crucial role in ensuring we have accurate and up-to-date information about your child, allowing us to better meet their needs. Please take the time to carefully review and complete all forms, including emergency contact information, medical records, and any special accommodations your child may require. Your partnership is invaluable, and together, we can pave the way for a successful and fulfilling academic year. For new and returning students to the school community, the following is a brief list of expectations to ensure you are on the road to success each day.

  • It is expected that every student wears an appropriate fitted school uniform daily.
  • Attendance is very important, arriving at school on time daily.
  • Be responsible and do not use personal electronic devices during school hours.
  • Get involved and monitor your child’s education and progress.
  • Schedule doctor appointments after school hours to maximize instructional time
  • Contact the office to schedule a parent meeting with the school principal or interim assistant principal.

We look forward to the start of the new school year and continuing our collaboration to provide students with an effective and engaging educational experience. As always, we will look to our families to be positive partners in their student’s academic journey.  Once again, welcome back to Para Los Niños Charter Middle School! We are excited to embark on this growth, exploration, and discovery journey with you. If you have any questions or need assistance with the forms or any other aspect of the school year, please don’t hesitate to contact our administrative and support team.

Our Mission

The mission of the Para Los Niños Charter Middle School is to help children in grades 6-8 and their families succeed in school and in life. In keeping with the vision for Para Los Niños as an organization, our school is a center for urban education providing students and their families with all the support and tools necessary to ensure academic success.

School Profile

Building on the success of our elementary school, Para Los Niños (PLN) Charter Middle School opened on a co-located campus in August 2013. Our charter schools’ program model is part of the California Community Schools Partnership Program, a transformative approach to (re)design schools by leveraging the collective power of schools, families, and communities to create an inclusive, safe learning environment where all scholars can thrive and reach their full potential. We build our culture based on community strengths and celebrate the unique contributions of each member. Through our efforts, we aspire to empower the next generation with the tools they need to thrive emotionally, excel academically, contribute meaningfully to their community, and lead joyful lives.

At PLN Charter Middle School, we understand that education is a collective effort, and we actively engage families and communities in the learning process. By fostering strong partnerships through expanded learning and integrated supports, we aim to create a seamless connection between the school, home, and broader community. This collaboration ensures that the integrated support system for every scholar is robust and comprehensive, addressing not only academic needs but also their social and emotional well-being.

We are committed to collaborative, equity-driven school leadership and innovative and highly effective instruction to prepare our scholars for success in an ever-evolving world. We create an educational experience that goes beyond traditional boundaries, providing students with the skills, knowledge, and critical thinking abilities needed to navigate diverse pathways in life.

Why PLN?
