2019 Annual Benefit to honor Bank of America and Loyola High School of Los Angeles for support of children and youth in need.

This May, Para Los Niños will honor Bank of America and Loyola High School of Los Angeles for their decades of support and partnership to help children and youth on their path to success. This event is Para Los Niños’ largest fundraiser of the year, welcoming over 275 of Los Angeles’ largest corporate and philanthropic leaders to celebrate our mission and impact.

Many children in Los Angeles come from disadvantaged homes without reliable access to basic necessities – this puts stress on the parents, and children take that on. That’s where Para Los Niños comes in for over 6,000 children and families each year to provide excellent education and wraparound support (like counselors, parenting workshops, trauma resiliency training, and social workers) to give some of LA’s most vulnerable children the chance for success in school, work, and life.

“This is the night that we get to highlight the stories of our families, and honor the great partners we have that allow us to continue the work we do each day. We are so excited to celebrate our two honorees this year, who have made an impact on our mission for the past decades!

Bank of America is deeply connected to our Youth Workforce Services’ success and growth, and Loyola High School of Los Angeles partners to be in our schools every year making a profound, direct impact on our students’ lives.”

-Para Los Niños President and Chief Executive Officer, Drew Furedi

Corporate Partner of the Year, Bank of America is being honored for their support and partnership for over 25 years. Contributing more than $400,000 in philanthropic support since 1992, and welcoming dozens of
Para Los Niños youth to obtain internships at their various offices each year, gaining invaluable work experience and personal growth.

“Bank of America shares Para Los Niños mission to help make lives better, especially in helping Los Angeles’ underserved youth and young adults get on the path to success,” said Raul Anaya, Los Angeles Market President, Bank of America. “Our mutual commitment to youth empowerment and developing tomorrow’s leaders lets us be part of creating a more civically engaged society.”

Previous recipients of this honor include, Univision, Wells Fargo, and KROQ-FM – bringing a diverse, influential, and exciting group of supporters together each year to recognize the achievements and potential of PLN children, youth, and adults.

Community Partner of the Year, Loyola High School of Los Angeles has been partnering with Para Los Niños since the 1980’s through an annual service project. Each January, Loyola High School seniors work in up to 90 non-profit organizations across the city. This past January, 12 young men served across all three Para Los Niños Charter Schools, working directly in classrooms for an entire month. Students assisted teachers and mentored students during this time – developing beneficial relationships on all sides.

Rev. Gregory M. Goethals, President, Loyola High School of Los Angeles, shared of the recognition, “Loyola High School is very honored to be a part of this evening since we also believe in the potential of all students. We have rooted connections in so many aspects of Para Los Niños’ work and are dedicated to joining them in helping our children as well as youth in need to reach their full potential.”

The evening will spotlight the success of the Para Los Niños holistic model and share the stories of children, youth and adults impacted. With videos, performances, presentations, and images that shine a light on these family’s successes, the organization hopes to inspire and encourage those in attendance to support their mission and become advocates themselves.
