Welcome to Para Los Niños

Middle School!

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

Welcome to the new academic school year 2025-2026! We hope your summer was filled with rest, joy, and meaningful moments with loved ones. We are thrilled to begin another exciting school year and to partner with you in supporting the growth, learning, and success of every student.

At Para Los Niños Charter Middle School, we are committed to our mission to RISE – fostering academic excellence, empowered lifelong learners, productive citizens, and future leaders. As we step into the 2025–2026 school year, we remain focused on creating a supportive, inclusive environment where every student can thrive.

Over the summer, our dedicated staff prepared intentionally to ensure a safe, engaging, and equitable learning experience for all. This year, we will deepen our focus on holistic education by prioritizing strong relationships, character development, student voice, and a love for lifelong learning.

We are proud to continue building on key initiatives rooted in equity, family engagement, attendance, culture, academics, and social-emotional learning. Through this work, we will strengthen our identity as a community-centered school where students and families are valued partners in decision making and shaping our shared success. Your collaboration is vital to our students’ success. As we begin the year, please:

  • Complete and return all school forms – including emergency contacts, medical records, and any special information – so we can best support your child.
  • Ensure students wear the required school uniform polo shirt and uniform pants daily – respect the school uniform policy to create safer learning environments.
  • Help students arrive on time daily, and schedule medical appointments outside of school hours, whenever possible. Students will not be able to leave campus 30 min prior to student dismissal to prevent truancy.
  • Encourage responsible technology use by ensuring personal electronic devices are not used during school hours and respect policies around technology and cell-phones.
  • Stay engaged—monitor your child’s progress and participate in school events and communication.
  • Reach out to schedule teacher or school admin appointments a minimum of 24 hours in advance and follow the visitor policy. Note that appointments will depend on the availability of our school staff.

We are excited to work alongside you to make this a year of academic achievement, personal growth, and meaningful connection for all our scholars. Together, we can create an inspiring, inclusive learning environment where every child feels seen, supported, and celebrated. Our Mission

Para Los Niños partners with children, youth, and their families through integrated education, wellness, support, and advocacy to address individual and systemic barriers and create pathways to success.

School Profile

Building on the success of our elementary school, Para Los Niños (PLN) Charter Middle School opened on a co-located campus in August 2013. Our charter schools’ program model is part of the California Community Schools Partnership Program, a transformative approach to (re)design schools by leveraging the collective power of schools, families, and communities to create an inclusive, safe learning environment where all scholars can thrive and reach their full potential. We build our culture based on community strengths and celebrate the unique contributions of each member. Through our efforts, we aspire to empower the next generation with the tools they need to thrive emotionally, excel academically, contribute meaningfully to their community, and lead joyful lives.

At PLN Charter Middle School, we understand that education is a collective effort, and we actively engage families and communities in the learning process. By fostering strong partnerships through expanded learning and integrated supports, we aim to create a seamless connection between the school, home, and broader community. This collaboration ensures that the integrated support system for every scholar is robust and comprehensive, addressing not only academic needs but also their social and emotional well-being.

Why PLN?

Integrated Support

PLN believes that children learn best when they are taught holistically, within the context of their lives – we engage parents to ensure what happens in the classroom continues at home. With counselors, social workers, and family support specialists on staff across our schools meeting regularly, our students and families can be set for success.

Before & Afterschool Support

Students may arrive as early as 7:00 a.m. to ensure parents/guardians have time to get to work safely. Breakfast is also available to students.

The After-School Program provides students with a safe and engaging environment, all activities support core curriculum with enriching experiences and opportunities to reinforce and enhance academic achievement and offers:
  • Academic support, homework assistance, academic enrichment
  • Robotics, coding, and science
  • Creative expression involving arts, crafts, music, and dance—may opportunities in partnership with artists and arts organizations
  • Social-emotional learning, confidence building
  • Physical recreation, organized sports, and team building activities
  • Field trips and special events
  • Daily nutritious snack and/or supper
