Para Los Niños was cited as one of the top performing schools in California in Stanford University’s Center for Research on Education Outcomes (CREDO) as part of their newly released report, As a Matter of Fact: The National Charter School Study III 2023 (NCSSII). The study evaluates the academic performance of students enrolled in charter schools between 2014 to 2019.
Some of the findings indicate that charter school students in California performed well above students attending traditional schools in reading and received similar scores in math. Para Los Niños was designated as a”gap busting” Charter Management Organization because students’ achievements exceeded the state average scores in reading. When the academic growth for special populations of students was examined, it was found that charter school students in poverty and English-language learners had more substantial growth overall.

Further as cited by EdSource, the gains are particularly beneficial for Black, Hispanic, and low-income students. This is exciting news, not only that our schools are performing, but we are helping to move the needle to a more equitable academic landscape for all.
