Best Start Región 1

Metro, East LA, Southeast LA, El Monte

Best Start Region 1 is a community movement funded through First5LA that strengthens families and communities. Through community partnerships, work groups, and neighborhood leadership groups, community members identify and address family and community barriers that impact healthy outcomes for children. Community residents develop leadership and advocacy skills, increase knowledge of systematic barriers and the resources that exist to keep their families healthy and safe, and make strong connections with one another and with local officials, positioning themselves as advocates and change-agents in their communities, and for their children.

Project Innovations LA (PILA)

Founded by the LA County Department of Mental Health, PILA includes LAUSD, community residents, and six agencies: Pathways LA, St. Anne’s, Para Los Niños, Children Bureau, Asian Pacific Counseling Center, and Peace Over Violence. Using trauma informed practices like the Community Resilience Model (CRM), the collaborative program seeks to build both community and systemic capacity to prevent and address the impact of trauma. Supporting the creation of community groups where residents can build social connections, leadership skills, and identify community resources, PILA provides social and emotional support to help build individual and community resilience. They also provide professional development, coaching, and support to school administrators and teachers to create environments that are safe for learning and building positive relationships.

Para Los Niños (PLN) está coordinando para proveer comida a más de 3.000 familias en algunas de las comunidades más vulnerables de Los Ángeles mediante los fondos del CARES Act distribuidos por el condado. Usando la fuerte infraestructura de distribución que se desarrolló como respuesta a la pandemia en 2020, PLN y su colaboración con docenas de organizaciones locales están ayudando a algunas de las comunidades más afectadas en el sur de California.

PLN Best Start se une al Gobernador Newsom

Representantes de Best Start Metro LA, East LA y El Monte de Para Los Niños fueron entusiasmados y honorados por asistir a un recorrido en el Hope Street Family Center con el gobernador Gavin Newsom, la directora de salud pública Nadine Burke Harris, la senadora Holly Mitchell y el asambleísta Miguel Santiago el 8 de agosto de 2019.
