While starting the school year can be a time of excitement for our scholars—becoming “big kids,” making new friends, joining a new club—it can also be a time of anxiety for many of their families as they navigate safety, transportation, purchasing school supplies, and making ends meet. For many, this summer in Los Angeles has been marked by uncertainty, grief and even terror.
