Vice President of Early Education
Para Los Niños provides high quality, early education services to over 600 children from the greater downtown Los Angeles area. Our sites are located in Downtown Los Angeles – including Pico-Union, East Los Angeles and South Los Angeles. The overarching goal of our child development centers is that children will be prepared to succeed in kindergarten and beyond, and that their families will receive the help and referrals they need to support their children’s success.
Our early education program implements a Reggio-Inspired curriculum approach. Through child-initiated, long-term projects and careful documentation of children’s self-expression, Para Los Niños teachers create early learning environments that spark curiosity, promote inquiry and foster critical thinking, as well as heighten parental involvement.
Para Los Niños Head Start
Para Los Niños is expanding services to young children and their families during the 2014-15 school year with the opening of four Head Start sites in Cypress Park, Atwater Village, East Hollywood, and Burbank. In total, the Para Los Niños Head Start program will provide comprehensive early childhood and family support services to 330 children and their families. Head Start is a federally funded program that promotes the school readiness of young children from low-income families by supporting the health, nutrition, mental health, social/emotional, and cognitive development of children. Para Los Niños Head Start programs are committed to establishing positive, supportive relationships with families and providing high-quality, center-based services to children.
Children enrolled in Para Los Niños Head Start can enroll in half-day sessions; the morning session runs from 8:30 am to Noon, and the afternoon session from 1:15 to 4:45 pm. Children are served breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack through the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
Para Los Niños Head Start uses the evidence-based Creative Curriculum, to ensure children are provided with quality early learning experiences. In addition, Para Los Niños Head Start offers Abriendo Puertas, a curriculum designed to support parents in their role as their child’s first and most important teacher.
