This unique facility will provide students with the tools and training to understand how a media newsroom operates. To offer hands-on experience, the network is outfitting the center with new iPads– equipped with software to record and edit videos right on the tablet. Additionally, students will receive training from the network’s anchors, reporters, producers, editors and others.
In April, plans for the studio production classroom were announced during a live, three-hour segment of Univision’s Despierta América (Wake Up America)– one of the country’s top morning shows along with Good Morning America and the TodayShow. The CMS site will be one of only six Univision Media Centers planned for middle schools across the country.
“The Univision Media Centers represent yet another way that Univision can connect with our communities and help inspire future media professionals and journalists. The students, families, teachers and staff at Para Los Niños Middle School continue to inspire,” said Luis Patiño, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Univision Los Angeles.
The Media Center illustrates that through a corporate and public school partnership, students can develop college and career readiness skills. The Media Center will provide our students with limitless opportunities to learn about careers in media. The ribbon cutting ceremony is slated for September 9, 2016.
